The evaluation section explains how the project will be monitored for the performance promised in the proposal. Anything mentioned in the evaluation section that will cost money will need to find its way into the budget and it needs to be integrated into project implementation (Carr, 2015). The goal is to provide violence prevention programs to youth at the Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), Delaware and in communities through educational and enrichment activities. Factors that influence gun violence among youth fall into two categories known as protective factors and risk factors. Protective factors such as parental support and family connectedness can assist in the decrease of violence. Similarly, a risk factor such as drugs and alcohol and peer pressure can encourage behaviors that can lead to violence. Once the assessments are collected and scored, the findings will help to determine which educational activities match close to the overall assessment. The program facilitator serves as a good fit and will administer both the pretest and posttest assessments to youth participants. Information regarding gun violence in Wilmington, Delaware has been labeled a public health crisis according to the Center for Disease Control (CDC). Wilmington, Delaware has consistently ranked among the most violent small U.S. cities on the FBI list. Shooting incidents rose 45% between 2011 and 2013. In 2021, the number of shooting rose to 131 shootings and 26 death (NHPR, 2021).

The type of evaluation being planned is a formative which helps to keep the grant going according to the plan. Summative analysis is the evaluation process that demonstrates that a project has accomplished all of its goals (Carr, 2015). This evaluation will improve the program by measuring the youth’s ability to make healthy choices and decisions, to outline strengths and opportunities for improvement, and to provide recommendations on how to reduce violence in the communities. In the formative analysis, the youth will complete an assessment that is outlined as a Likert scale to gain an understanding of who they are and what triggers them. In addition to the data collection, surveys will be distributed. The summative analysis is where the youth will assess their comprehension to express their feelings on pressures and violence in their communities. Overall, the evaluation section will pay close attention to the youth participating in the violence prevention program while also adhering to the goals and objective. As the prevention program size increases, additional data will be collected.
