In Chapter 1, the authors discuss the concept of “democratization of the media.” What do you believe the authors mean by this phrase? How does the concept of “democratization of media” apply to you today in your daily life? Do you think being constantly connected – whether it is through your smartphone, through the Internet available on your computer or tablet, etc – is a liberating experience? What do you think the potential is to be influenced by media in a “democratized” media environment versus a more limited one like in the 1970s?
