Time Limit: 2-3 minutes
Written Component (20 points):  Turn in a full manuscript, notes or an outline of what helped you prepare for your final speech.  Your manuscript, outline or notes are to help you with practicing your speech, but when you deliver your speech your wording does not have to be exact to what you have typed out.  Your manuscript, outline or notes are meant to help you be strategic with the wording and to help give you familiarity with what you will say in front of the audience. During the speech I will be evaluating your delivery, not reading your manuscript. You do not need to organize your speech in the introduction, body, conclusion format.
Assignment:  Create a shared, sentimental speech that celebrates any person, invention, group, institution, or event.  In a ceremonial speech we share values and celebrate the qualities and achievement of our subject. Think of your subject as an example of all the qualities which would be admired by your audience and incorporate a theme into your speech. For example, if I were to celebrate my Grandmother, I would use the theme of dedication to family, persistence, and honesty to help describe what I admire about her.

Choose two governing bodies in the sport industry. Choose one that has is a good governing body and one that is a bad governing body. Using the eight characteristics of good governance, explain why one practices good governance and the other practices poor governance.

The rubric used for assignments is based on the completeness of assignment, demonstration of comprehension and analysis for graduate level work. Students will use journal articles, and other forms of media, as well as the text in order to complete the assignments.Each student will submit a 2-3 page document that demonstrates critically analysis of the material in and related to the course. The completed assignment will demonstrate an analysis of the readings, incorporate previous knowledge and the application of critical thinking skills. The submission should make evident a thorough understanding of material articulated at a graduate level. All submissions must incorporate aspects from the textbook, additional peer-reviewed materials and other related information properly cited and referenced (3).

The Outside of Class Speaker Evaluation Essay
At some point during the semester, you will need to watch an online speaking event that is outside of a classroom environment.  The essay should be over 500 words in length.  If there are many speakers in the video you watch, focus your term paper on only one speaker.
Submit your term paper as a file upload within the assignment on Canvas.
The essay should be arranged in the following format:
Part 1- Describe the event, the audience, who was speaking, where it was, and when it happened.
Part 2- What did the speaker do to make a good impression?  Use concepts learned in class to explain your ideas.
Part 3- How could the speaker improve for future presentations? Use concepts learned in class to explain your critique.
