INTA 222 AIT Designing an Inclusive Multi Story Home Presentation

Instructions

Final Project Scenario for INTA222 Human Factors

Based on the client profile below and your learning from this session, develop a design solution that will accommodate everyone in the same multi-story home.

Client Profile:

  • Mark, 46, and Sarah, 44, both average sized
  • 8-year-old twins, Julie and Jennifer
  • Sarah’s mother, Victoria, 75—uses a walker

Consider key areas in the home that would be required for the family.

You will include three spaces (bathroom, laundry room, and living room) for the home and at least five factors for each space (for a total of fifteen factors).

Create three digital presentation boards—one for each space.

Tips for Completing this Assignment:

  • Title each slide and include the five factors. Each image should include a title.
  • One factor must be an image: this could be a material or a particular piece of furniture, etc.
  • One factor must be an original sketch: this should be a custom solution.
  • Three factors must be fact: this could address proper clearances, furniture arrangement, etc. You can include sketches to illustrate your solution, if needed
  • On a final slide, justify the solutions for each space. How will your design support the users of the space?
  • As in previous assignments, it is required that you seek out “To the Trade” sources for any material and/or furniture. Start with finding advertisements in professional magazines such as Architectural Digest, Interior Design, or Veranda. Typically, “To the Trade” will be indicated at the bottom of the ad.
