CU Importance of Rapport Building Teaching Philosophy Table
Teaching Module
Overview
This final assignment is designed to give learners in the DSW program who might aspire to teaching in academia the opportunity to develop a teaching module to share their expertise on a topic of their choice. These same skills can easily be transferred to social work leaders in an agency or organization who must also share their expertise with fellow social workers or who are responsible for professional development training. Using the template provided in the Resources, you will:
- Choose and share a topic on which you have expertise.
- Share your teaching philosophy. Use the Career Center’s guidelines for creating a teaching philosophy.
- List the competencies you want learners to acquire.
- List objectives that can be demonstrated by learners.
- List current references in the literature that you would assign as readings.
- Break down the topic into five components that you will cover over a 5-week period.
- Provide 3–5 talking points for each weekly component related to the topic.
- List the technology you intend to incorporate into the module with a justification based on NASW Standards of Technology.
- Create assessments to measure acquisition of the competencies based on adult learning models covered in the course.
