Confronting Meaninglessness Discussion Post

Suppose scientists had proven that all of our thoughts and actions are completely determined by strictly physical causes – purely atoms in motion, and that the notion that humans have free will is totally illusory. Humans have no immaterial aspect to them. In other words, humans aren’t much different than computers, automobiles, pens and pencils. Would life still be truly meaningful under these conditions? Would the meaning humans seem to give to their lives be totally illusory? Provide an explanation for your answers. Keep in mind that your explanation, in this hypothetical situation, should also apply to other entities that are completely material.

I have attached a copy of other discussion responses that may give you an idea of the direction of the question and may be helpful.
