Hi evryone my name is Sara Deal. I am a Junior Nursing Major with a minor in psychology. I am from Franklin PA, which is a bout an hour and a half north of here. It is a very rural area with lots to do outside.
While taking this survery, it kind of reminded me how I need to expand my hobbies and activities. I don’t read very much at all. I loved to read when I was younger, I would read Goosebumps and mystery books all the time. I feel like ever since I got into high school/middle school I relied a lot more on my phone to keep me entertained. That’s something I really want to work on with myself especially limiting my screen time daily becasue I could spend hours on TIk Tok. I love watching TV shows, working out, and playing volleyball. I feel like if there is one thing that I do really well for myself is hold myself accountable for getting my body moving in someway a couple times a week. My goal for this semester is to try and broaden what activities I do and meet some new people.
I also realized while taking this survery that I might be a little OCD with how my stuff is organized. There was a question that was asked about what I would do if I had a little bit of free time to myself. I wrote clean and organize all of my stuff for the week. I feel like when I’m not organized I can’t focus at all and need to get everything in order before I can relax

Hello everyone! My name is Moneer Alkumaiy, and I am a senior student in Biomedical Engineering. I am a very optimistic person who has hope until the end. I just found a new physical game named Pickleball game, and honestly, I am in love with that game! However, I realized when I was completing the reading survey that someone knocked on my door and woke me up! Why do I spend about three hours watching the news or reading the same boring topics? Why do I spend so much time on my phone for no reason or need? Whatever the reason, the question is WHY? Why don’t I change or enhance my dear day? Why don’t I have time to discuss myself and try to answer some logical questions that are related to my personality, style, and life?! For a very long time and also now, I realized that I live in a very long dream, so I have to wake up! Immediately! I have decided to open a new page and start changing or enhancing my life pattern for the best. It is very important to realize that I should divide my time among myself, family, school, friends, and society. Each one deserves a specific time and effort shouldn’t be more or less of the need. At this stage, I will try to focus on myself and my private time through wise managing. I will practice leaving my phone in the bedroom and walk my family outdoor without any distractions. I also will go to the bookstore and buy some delicious books to devour them all! I will do more for my happiness until I feel full!

Hello, my name is Stephanie, I am a junior nursing major here at RMU. I live in a small town in about an hour away, on a farm with my boyfriend and our puppy Brutis.
I have a tendency to think about things more than needed. Once I have some thing in my head the thought will pop back up every hour and then every 10 minutes until I finally sit down and force myself to do the task at hand. I waste so much time worrying about things as opposed to just doing them when I have time, I also waste time on my phone. I would not say that I rely on technology because I only use my computer for school and work and rarely ever watch TV or movies unless there’s literally nothing else to do. However I do spend quite a bit of time on my phone, whether it be texting my friends, scrolling through Facebook, or playing a pointless game. I do not use the screen time app but after filling out the survey I started using it and I’m going to try to be on my phone less and less. My goal for this year is to really start connecting with people around me as opposed to staring at a screen.
The only positive thing I realized doing the reading survey was how much I am actually outside able to enjoy life. I am constantly outside playing with my dog, training him, or just taking him around for walks in the fields. I’m also constantly working on vehicles or hay equipment with my boyfriend. Some days the only time we ever go inside is to eat lunch and dinner and then go to sleep. Those are the days that I enjoy most, the fresh air and being able to do something fun and also productive gives me great joy.

In Harry Potter, the first stage of the journey is when Harry is called to ‘action’ by Hagrid because he is a wizard and needs to come to hogwarts to learn on how to become a responible wizard. The second stage of the journey is when Harry crosses the threshold and the train station of 9 and 3 quarters to go to the wizarding world with the help of the Wesleys. The third stage of the journey is when Harry gets supernatural aid. Primarily being Hagrid and his friends in Ron and Hermione, you can also say that Dumbledorew is another aid for him being the headmaster of the school at hogwarts. Hedwig is another aid for him. The fourth stage of the journey would probably be the initiation into hogwarts. This is when the sorting hat is put on his head. This is sort like an initiaion for them because it shows their personality and what they are like. For example the house of slytherin are people who are cunning. While people in Gryffindor are people who are daring. The fifth stage is the ‘dragon lair.’ In the first book that would be in the underground chambers of hogwarts. The sixth stage would be the ‘ultimate treasure’ in the first book that would be when he gets the stone from Proffessor Quirrell and learning about the power of love from Professor Dumbledore. The seventh stage is the journey home which he just goes through the train station back home to his aunt and uncle.

By using the hero’s journey chart, I was easily able to break apart the children’s movie Toy story and find Woody’s hero journey. In this movie, it begins with Woody always being Andy’s favorite toy to play with, until Andy got buzz light year on his birthday. The first stage was when he got buzz light-year, woody had to see if Buzz was his mentor or if he was still supposed to be the leader of all of the toys and Buzz would follow in his footsteps. The next many stages were tests or the road of test with Buzz versus Woody; they would brawl and fight to be Andy’s favorite, up until woody threw buzz out the window to go to pizza planet with Andy. They ended up us getting a ride back to pizza planet starting the ordeal stage of the journey. They both get stuck in a claw machine. They cross the second threshold in which Sid, the neighborhood kid, wins them both out of the claw machine and takes them to his house. It is also at the stage where Woody is able to show Buzz how dangerous Sid is and bring buzz into the reality that he is just a toy. At the climax of the journey, Woody and Buzz work together to escape Sid house but buzz is caught by Sid and Woody has to make a life or death choice. At this point Woody could have left buzz to be blown up by Sid and continue to be Andy’s favorite toy but he chose to rescue from without and save Buzz from Sid. The final stage of Woody’s hero journey, is the resurrection were both Woody and Buzz make it from Sid’s into the moving truck, Buzz was able to defeat death and all of the toys are happy to see both Woody and Buzz.

A great example of the Hero’s Journey is the journey of Simba in The Lion King. In the “Ordinary World” in the movie, Simba was supposed to be heir to the Pride Lands because his father, Mufasa, was king. Then as the “Call to Adventure”, Scar, Mufasa’s envious brother, ends up killing Mufasa. However, he ends up tricking Simba into thinking that his fathers death was his fault and that he should run away because he will no longer be accepted for killing his own father and the king. As the “Refusal of the Call”, Simba ends up running away to the desert away from the Pride Lands that he should inherit. So then in the desert Simba “Meets the Mentor.” Timon and Pumbaa meet Simba and they show him their “Hakuna Matata,” worry-free, lifestyle. “Crossing the First Threshold,” Simba embraces this new lifestyle and lives in their worry-free jungle home. Then Nala finds Simba and the two are together in the jungle and they fall in love. As an “Approach to the Innmost Cave,” Nala and Simba get into an argument because she asks him to return to the Pride Lands to take the throne from Scar, that should be his anyway. Then as the “Ordeal” Simba has to chose between living his new worry-free life or if he should return to save the Pride Lands that Scar is ruining. Mufasa’s ghost then appears and tells Simba that he is the only true king, that he must return to the Pride Lands, and to remember who he is; this was the “Rescue from without.” Once Simba hears this from his father he decides to return to the Pride Lands and face Scar for the “Showdown.” Scar ends up telling Simba that he killed his father and then they fight on Pride Rock back and forth with Simba almost falling off to his death, but then Simba throws Scar off of the rock, and this acts as the “Resurrection” in the movie. Then to wrap it up Simba climbs up Pride Rock and claims the throne that he was always meant to have.
