For this paper, you may choose one of the following topics. You may come up with your own topic as well, but please run it by me. The final paper should be between 4-5 pages in length, typed double spaced, MLA format, Times New Roman 12 point font with a works cited page. Some of the possible topics you may choose from include:

How does Milton embellish the story of Adam and Eve? In what way do these embellishments change the story as it is told in the Book of Genesis? Does Milton have a message for his readers beyond the Biblical story?

How is sin depicted in both Paradise Lost and Dr. Faustus? What might be the reasons for the differences?

How is love depicted in Donne’s poetry? What are some of the unusual metaphors he uses to describe love and lust?

The paper will be graded on the following qualities: a clear main point or thesis, good textual evidence, integrating quoted material smoothly, avoiding plot summary, correct citations, an original title, grammar, spelling, and punctuation. The paper will be due in ecampus on May 1.
