I’m working on a sociology discussion question and need support to help me study.

Female Genital Mutilation.

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is a traditional practice in many countries around the world. Do more research on this topic to find out (1) what countries still use this as a rite of passage for girls, (2) how many girls worldwide are subjected to this procedure, (3) does it happen in the US and (4) what do you think is the underlying reason for this?  Is it Religion, Tradition, Patriarchy?

Here is one documentary to start with but I would like you to find at least 1 more article or video from an academic/reputable source on your own, and be sure to cite your sources in your paper.
