UF The Whiter Your Skin Is the More Male Privilege You Probably Possess Discussion
express your opinion
The ‘whiter’ your skin is, the more male privilege you probably possess. However, most men will find this list is true for them. Women of all colors will not. Can you find three that you find interesting about the topic and comment on them?
1)9. If I choose not to have children, my masculinity will not be called into question. It is bizarre that people often feel comfortable commenting on a woman’s decision not to have children. Childrearing is such a personal topic, but that does not stop people from chiming in with their personal opinions. In my experience, my family has always been very respectful when the subject came up; different family members have asked if I know whether or not I want children rather than assuming that I do, which I am grateful for.12. If I have children and pursue a career, no one will think I’m selfish for not staying at home. However, I have noticed that female celebrities are often asked how they juggle their career and their family life, and this question just bothers me. I can’t remember whom, but one celebrity asked this question asked if the interviewer plans on asking men the same thing. Women are typically expected to stay at home and take care of their children, which is outdated. We should be free to choose whatever we like without judgment.43. Complete strangers generally do not walk up to me on the street and tell me to smile. This has always driven me crazy; I cannot count how often older men have told me to smile or that I would be prettier if I smiled. Women do not exist to be “pretty” for men, and I find it interesting that I have only ever heard older men say. I am generally happy, but a man telling me to smile just makes me want to roll my eyes.
2)Hi Everybody! The first point I found interesting was point 9 which said that if men choose to not have kids their masculinity will not be called into question. Whereas if a women does not want children her sex and the nature of her self becomes the main question. Apparently since all women are supposed to want kids which is in fact not true! The next point that interested me was point 18 which talked about how boys got more attention by their teachers in school than when girls raised their hands just as often. We have done so much reading on this in this specific class that it is very peculiar to me still how teachers can be unaware of this act they are doing. There is so much research to back this claim up. The last point which got my attention was point 34 which elaborated on how men never are expected to change their last name after marriage. Women are supposed to just let their family born name go and take up a new different name no questions asked and if they refuse almost everybody questions why. Therefore, so many of things points ran true that men really do live a more privileged life, especially white men.
