This assignment will aid your understanding and practice of audience analysis and inform the composition of the future messages that will be assigned in this course:

For this assignment you will select an audience and utilize research to understand that audience. You will explore and analyze communication practices and organizational culture.

Communication Scenario

For this assignment, you are asked to select a company in your field in which you have an interest. This can be a company where you see yourself working in the future, a company for which you have worked in the past, such as in an internship, or a company with which you expect to one day communicate.

The company you select will be the audience for the informative message and negative message assignments in this course.

In order to develop strong you-attitude, positive emphasis, and persuasive strategies in those future messages, an analysis of the intended audience is necessary. The goal is to understand the unique communication conventions within your field and the communication culture of your chosen company.

To begin your understanding and analysis, conduct research to understand your chosen company’s organizational culture and communication practices. Consider company history, social media presence, press releases, company profiles or “about us,” and any other information that might help you understand how this company communicates with employees, between employees, and with the public.

To complete this assignment, use a minimum of three outside sources to support your answers to the questions in the provided worksheet.
