HSA 4184 St Petersburg College Team Work in Healthcare Discussion
A) Working in a team or group setting can have countless benefits. Some people may not be as strong as someone else or creative in a certain subject but with a group you have a likely chance that someone else possess strengths to your weakness. If a project seems large or overwhelming, dividing the work amongst a group can take pressure off the project and make it more manageable for the team to complete.
Team work in healthcare is important because there are so many aspects to healthcare on a clinical side and operational side. In order for patients to get the proper care all these moving parts need to collaborate and work side by side. “Collaboration, pulls together divided parties to work toward a mutually accepted goal” (Dye, 2017). All clinical parties involved with a patients care need to communicate to make sure things are getting done if not the operations side may step in like a case manager. The goal for all patients should be the best possible outcome, collaboration amongst parties can help obtain this goal.
B) In today’s world, teamwork is an important involvement for achievement not only in the workplace, but in our everyday lives. There are many benefits for us individually and for the businesses or projects we plan to tackle. Working as a team helps us develop ourselves as we learn to improve our personal and social competencies (Dye, 2017). The chance for errors is decreased as the team works together having that extra set of eyes to catch any flaws. Active participation and cooperation are required to create a strong team destined to meet a common goal and building trust (Dye, 2017). Working collaboratively allows us to grow while we are introduced to different personalities, diverse cultures and other point of views. As it challenges us, it also broadens our knowledge as we are able to learn from our colleagues. Teamwork allows us to empower one another throughout the process and enables us to celebrate the effort of achievement or success as a whole (Dye, 2017).
Teamwork is an essential component in healthcare. There are many positions working collectively in aiding to diagnose patients. In healthcare, we all share a mutual goal to improve the lives of our patients and to provide the best care possible. As a team, we share important information, coordinate responsibilities and help facilitate patient’s progress by double checking orders, constant communication between staff, and anticipating and preparing for the patient’s next step (Dye, 2017). Our goal is also creating a smooth experience for our patients. Enhancing the lives of our sick patients requires a team effort.
