1. Part One – Personal Narratives (20% of Final Grade in Class)

Almost everyone alive, school age and up, on 9/11 remembers where they were that day. It is seared into our memory – but for many of you it is an event that happened before you were even born. For this project I want you to interview two people, friends, family, co-workers, who remember that day. If possible, ask around to find someone with a personal connection, perhaps someone with friends and family in New York or DC, or who was in the military that day. I would suggest recording the conversation so you can just listen and not worry about taking notes. When you are done, record their stories, there is no required minimum or maximum length, it will depend on the story, but write it out in a compelling way. If you were old enough to remember 9/11, you can use yourself as one of the two interviews. I will provide you my own 9/11 story as an example.
