1.  How does the societal response to immigrants vary across time and across groups ( for example, European or Chinese immigrants in the 1800s, groups that came in 1965 to 2000, and the most recent newcomers who arrived after 2000)?

2.  Is it fair to label Americans as prejudiced against immigrants?  Or are Americans largely welcoming?  What are some of the causes of anti-immigrant and pro-immigrant attitudes?

3.  What characteristics do immigrants bring?  What are their motivations for immigrating?
