(1) DUE DATES: Post Part 1 (200 word analysis–80 points) and post Part 2 (50 word peer reaction–20 points) by Weds 5/5 midnight.
(2) OBJECTIVE: To start gathering and analyzing complex quotations from the novel that could potentially be used as support in Paper 4.
(3) READ FIRST: First, look at the overview of our next author and book and check out the videos for MODULE 4 . Then in Kindred, read the Prologue (9-11) and the following chapters: “The River” (12-17), “The Fire” (18-51), and “The Fall” (52-107).

(4) ASSIGNMENT TWO PARTS:
PART 1: In 200 words or more, select and analyze an important and complex quote from the novel (pages 9-107) and analyze its significance. Why did you select it? How does it connect to or help illuminate the central tensions in novel so far? (Please note: the quote itself does not count in the 200 word requirement).

PART 2: Respond to one of your classmate’s posts in 50 words or more.
