Based on our lecture and discussion on Leanne Shapton’s “The Dream II” and “Billy Byron” and the work of Duane Michaels, your next assignment is to create your own flash fiction photo essay using just 3-6 photos (must be taken by you OR be archival images from your family) and using between 25 – 40 words. Your words should be your own, not sourced from other people.

Consider the layout and font as elements of your story. How can you convey meaning using minimal language? How do images inform text, and vice versa, to tell a story?

Your final piece should be exported as a PDF, I recommend using google slides, powerpoint, or keynote to arrange your work.
