1. Based on the information collected in the Research Method, formulate the Results section of your selected topic. Do not forget that your Results section needs to provide a visual (table, graphic, figure, etc.) and a narrative paragraph that helps your reader understand the information presented in the visual. Please do not interpret the results!

2. Post your Results.

Attached is the research method I wrote and also the class notes for the results.

Research method:

Benefits of legalizing marihuana in the US

For this study, a meta-analysis method was used to synthesize different results found among several studies. The researcher accessed the virtual library through the MRU home page. Then, the researcher accessed the EBSCOhost databases. Once there, the researcher selected both MEDLINE Complete and CINAHL Complete. An advanced search was performed, for which the following keywords were entered in the Boolean search: “Benefits”, “in the united states”, and “legalizing Marijuana.” The search was limited to references providing full text, peer reviewed, and abstract available. A limitation was set for research published within the last five years, from 2016 to 2021. Additionally, researcher consulted only articles published in English. The search provided access to a total of 185 articles, of which only five (5) studies were selected based on their relevance with the topic; the other 180 were discarded.

After enjoying a Happy Meal at McDonald’s, one thought that is probably not at top of mind for kids and parents alike is the impact of the meal’s packaging on the planet’s forests. In a typical Happy Meal, in addition to the paper cup and napkins, the burger is wrapped in paper, as is the plastic straw; the fries arrive in a paper sleeve; ketchup packets, made from a thin plastic film, are also supplied—and of course, there’s the plastic toy. At the world’s largest restaurant chain, serving over 69 million people daily, with 37,000 locations in over 100 countries, all of this packaging, made primarily from trees, goes straight into the trash, and subsequently, a landfill.

In an effort to reduce waste, McDonald’s is working on improving its sourcing, transportation, and packaging. The company recently announced that by 2025, all packaging, including single-use plastic straws, on customer products will come from “renewable or recycled sources,” or sources with a preference for certification by environmental organizations, the Forest Stewardship Council or the Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification. Both nonprofit organizations have a goal to protect forests for future generations by setting standards for responsible forest management. Additionally, by 2025, McDonald’s has also said that it will make recycling an option at all global locations. To date, only 10% of its 37,000 locations offer recycling. McDonald’s customers continue to express concern over the company’s green image. The company acknowledges that it has a long road ahead to accomplish its goal of recycling 100% of guest packaging at all of its restaurants. Recycling infrastructure, regulations, and consumer behaviors differ from city to city and country to country. However, the burger giant believes that even small changes can and will make a difference.

ASSIGNMENT: In 1-2 pages, 10-12 point font, please provide your answers to the following questions. The thoughtfulness and completeness of your responses will help determine your score. Please remember to edit and proofread your assignment before submitting.

Questions for Critical Thinking

1. The average American uses six trees worth of paper each year. In reality, forest products like toilet paper, napkins, tissues, and paper towels are used by people every day. What solutions exist to lessen or prevent clearing the earth’s forests to produce such products?

2. McDonald’s has also committed to replace recycle bins within its stores and to do away with eco-unfriendly and nearly impossible-to-recycle plastic (polystyrene) foam cups. Research the status and results of its initiatives. What did you learn?

3. Decades ago, McDonald’s used Styrofoam containers for its burgers but later decided to change to paper. Which option do you think is better and why?

4. In the United States, over a half-billion plastic straws are consumed daily at restaurant establishments like McDonald’s. What solutions exist to lesson the amount of plastics used in this business model? What do you think, personally about these options?

5. Of the seven eras of business history, where does environmental responsibility fall?

Overview

The members of the United Nations found great value in the analysis you provided on the effects of global warming that result from population growth. They are now asking you write an additional analysis to include further issues related to population growth. Here is the issue they have asked you to consider:

The member states of the United Nations seek to build food systems that can provide global food security which will feed everyone, everywhere, every day by improving food quality though the promotion of effective and nutritional agricultural practices. The crucial issue is not the lack of food in the world but the access to that food. In many developing countries, food shortages are due to governmental control over food distribution. These governments maintain control of the population and their power by limiting access to nutritious food to certain groups. In this practice, they thereby “weaponize” food.

Your second project as a consultant for the United Nations is to develop an analysis that addresses three issues related to global food insecurity caused by global population growth and poverty, and to explore these issues in a developing country of your choosing.

Instructions

The U.N. has given you the following guidelines:

Content

The U.N. has asked that your paper contain three sections. Each section should be one page (or approximately 300 words) in length and answer specific questions, identified in the outline below. It also asks that you use examples from your developing country when answering the questions.

Introduction

Provide an introduction of half a page minimum that addresses points 1–5 below:

  1. Explain the problem the U.N. has asked you to address in your own words.
  2. Identify the three sections your paper will cover.
  3. Identify the developing country you will consider.
  4. Tell the U.N. the causes of food insecurity.
  5. Provide a one-sentence statement of your solutions at the end of your introduction paragraph.
Section I. Background
  1. What is food insecurity?
  2. What role does population growth play in food security?
Section II. Technologies That Can Reduce Hunger and Improve Food Security
  1. What forms of technology can be used to reduce hunger and improve food security?
  2. How would these technological solutions work?
  3. What causes of food insecurity do these technologies address?
Section III. Specific Factors in Chosen Developing Country
  1. Considering the causes of food insecurity, what factors interrupt the flow of food from the source to the people in the developing country you selected?
Conclusion
  • Provide a conclusion of half a page minimum that includes a summary of your findings that the United Nations can use to inform future policy decisions.

Course ScenarioOil Company X is a large oil refinery which has been expanding and taking on new investment projects. Recently, they have considered building a pipeline that stretches across the United States, from Canada to New Orleans. You are a member of the Cost Department. At a recent meeting of the board of directors, it was estimated that the cost of building the pipeline would be two million dollars in total for the production of a 30,000-mile stretch, $5,000 of which is a fixed cost in taxes. They also want you to determine if the currently available alternative energy source is a strong substitute good for oil, which may interfere with expected profits from this venture.InstructionsAs a cost analyst at your firm, you are asked to evaluate the marginal cost of producing the pipeline per 1,000-mile stretch as well as the average total cost of producing the pipeline per 1,000 miles. Submit a 2-page report detailing the cost. Include calculations in your Word document. You will also include a table showing the final figures for the following costs:

  1. Total Fixed Cost
  2. Total Variable Cost
  3. Average Variable Cost
  4. Average Fixed Cost
  5. Marginal Cost

Please use this included Excel Cost Spreadsheet Click for more options to calculate your costs.B e sure to also include a calculation of the cross-price elasticity of the alternative energy source and oil. Assume the current price of oil is $50/gallon. If the price increases to $55/gallon of crude oil, the quantity demanded of the alternative energy source increases by 20%.Is this a complementary good, a substitute good, or a non-related good? If there is a relationship, indicate whether the relationship is weak or strong. Justify your answer with an explanation. Format your proposal to include a title page, introduction, conclusion, and references. Include all relevant graphs, equations, and calculations. Show your work on calculations to ensure you receive partial credit for incorrect answers. No credit will be given if your work is not shown. Remember to cite your sources using correct APA format, and also use correct grammar, spelling, and formatting.

In a LESS than a 10 page paper, answer both of the following:

  • Drawing on your topic from Week 1 Written Assignment (ATTACHED), and the review of the literature you have been compiling, create a specific research question and possibly a small number of subquestions that will help you investigate the research problem. Remember, you will be using a qualitative methodology, so make your research question match the types of questions that methodology can answer. Your research question will be very specific. Drawing from the literature you have been compiling, provide a brief justification for your research question.
  • Develop your methodology and research plan to answer your research question, including:
  • Research Methodology: Describe what research methodology you will use to answer your research questions and why it is an appropriate method.
  • Propose a Research Plan, including:
  1. Participant Selection: If applicable, describe the site of the data collection. Explain who your participants will be and what method you will use to select them. Be as specific as possible, as if you were giving directions to someone on how to choose and obtain the participants. Include instructions on how to get informed consent from the participants.
  2. Data Collection: Discuss how you will collect the data (interviews, observations, documents, etc.). Tell what sort of questions you will ask (for interviews) or what you will look for (for observations) and why that will help you answer your research questions. Include the interview guide including how to conduct interviews for your study and what questions will be asked in an Appendix.
  3. Appendix that contains your interview guide or other collection guide.

***This may be helpful*** This was my post for one of the discussion questions this week

According to Vought (2017), transformational leaders’ effectiveness is based on providing idealized influence, inspirational motivation, individualized consideration, and intellectual stimulation. In our current organizational challenges, especially in my current organization, I think this study is very relevant. My focus is on leadership, specifically transformational leadership, and its effect on individuals’ job satisfaction and job performance when working virtually, an area in which more research is needed. Over past year alone, there has been an increase in organizations allowing  employees to work at home or a location outside of the main facility. Therefore, this research will grow in months and years to come.

The nature of my  quantitative study will examine the relationship between leadership, specifically transformational leadership style (independent variable), and its effects on individuals who work virtually regarding job performance and job satisfaction (dependent variables). So far, I only have the below questions related to my research topic. These questions were actual inspired by the telework agreement that we are required to fill out prior to being authorized to work from home. Prior to Covid-19 my organization allowed all of the workforce to telework from home for a maximum of four days per week, and the telework authorization had to be renewed every two years. All feedback is welcomed.

  • To what extent does job satisfaction resolve the relationship between transformational leadership and job performance of virtual workers?
  • How do virtual team members’ perceptions of transformational leadership behaviors affect virtual team members’ levels of interpersonal trust and organizational commitment?
  • To what extent does job satisfaction mediate the relationship between idealized behaviors and job performance of virtual workers?
  • Is there a relationship between the transformational leadership behavior and the job satisfaction of virtual team members who report to the leader?
