  1. What is the current health status of this minority group?
  2. How is health promotion defined by this group?
  3. What health disparities exist for this group?

Identify the team members involved in conducting each step. For example, explain which steps HR performs and which steps managers perform.

The process involved with selecting the “right” employee will differ depending on the requirements of the job. In addition, the culture and expectations of an organization will have great impact on the structure of the selection process. Where one health care setting might require applicants to participate in group interviews, another might use personality tests. In addition, the qualities for which interviewers look might also vary, ranging from a personality focus to a skills focus.

In this Assignment, you investigate the selection process that is used in a health care organization with which you are familiar. You also identify the expectations of both human resources and the nurse manager in terms of selection.

To prepare

  • Review Chapter 6, “Selecting New Employees” in the course text, Human Resource Management: Functions, Applications, Skill Development, to examine the various selection processes health care settings and other organizations may employ. In addition, reflect upon the three types of “fit” nurse managers should take into consideration when selecting new employees.
  • Identify a position that is open or has recently been filled in your organization.
  • Using what you know about the position, the culture and expectations of the organization, your own hiring and selection experiences, and this week’s readings, investigate the following:
    • Identify the selection steps that have been or will be taken, as well as the members involved. For example, which steps did human resources complete? In which steps did the nursing manager engage?
    • Identify the skills, educational and work background, and “fit” required for this position. How do these align with the advertised job description?
    • Identify any problems or areas that could be improved in your organization’s current selection process. If you were the nurse manager, how would you modify this process?

Note: If possible, you may also choose to discuss these ideas with an HR professional or nurse manager in your organization.

To complete

By Day 7

Submit a 3- to 5-page paper in which you do the following:

  • Briefly describe the selection process used in your setting.
    • Identify the team members involved in conducting each step. For example, explain which steps HR performs and which steps managers perform.
      • Explain how effective you believe the current system is.
      • Briefly describe any problems (e.g., rushing, stereotyping, “like me” syndrome, halo and horn effect, premature selection) your setting has experienced with this current selection system (if applicable).
      • Explain how you would modify the process and why.
  • Identify the job title for the open or recently filled position.
    • Describe the skills and background a desirable applicant would have.
    • Describe the type of “fit” that would make this applicant the “right” person for this specific job.
  • Compare the job description with the expectations of the position.
    • Explain whether or not the job description aligns with the skills, background, and “fit” needed to excel in this position.
    • Explain the specific attributes or characteristics you, as the nurse manager responsible for selecting a candidate for the position, might seek that are not specifically outlined in the job description. Describe how you could you elicit this information during an interview.

What affect will the sale have on the culture of the new combined organization?

  • What affect will the sale have on the culture of the new combined organization?
  • As a middle manager, what might you do to ensure that the combined staff will work together to provide quality care without taking on the competitive stance?

Describe what the organization will look like in terms of systems and shape.

Use the reading to provide a theoretical framework for your discussion.

Cite at least four references.

What is your state’s or province’s position on physician-assisted suicide? • Does your state or province differ from others? If so, why?

End-of-Life Rights: Physician-Assisted Suicide

I will neither give a deadly drug to anybody if asked for it, nor will I make a suggestion to this effect.
·The Hippocratic Oath, fourth paragraph

Post a comprehensive response(250-350 words) to the following:

• What is your state’s or province’s position on physician-assisted suicide?

• Does your state or province differ from others? If so, why?

• What is your opinion concerning physician-assisted suicide?  Would you ask a physician to assist in your suicide if you had a terminal illness?

• Does a patient have the right to determine how they want to die? Support your response using ethical principles.

• If the patient doesn’t have a living will and is incapacitated, who would be legally responsible to make the decision to end the patient’s life? If you were the patient, how would you feel about that person making the decision for you?

What types of end-of-life advance directives does your jurisdiction allow? How did you find the documents allowed by your state or province?

“It’s all about how you LIVE.”

This is how Caring Connections, a national advanced directive awareness program run by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), eloquently sums up the steps for preparing for the end.

  • Learn about options
  • Implement a plan
  • Voice the plan to others
  • Engage others to LIVE

While the decisions can be difficult, preparing for the end is an activity that has to happen before it is needed.

To prepare for this Assignment, research your state’s or province’s laws regarding end-of-life advanced directives such as do-not-resuscitate orders, durable power of attorney for health care, and living wills.

Complete at least one of the end-of-life advanced directives listed above. (You do not need to turn this in.)

To complete this Application, write a 2- to 3-page paper, which addresses the following:

  • What types of end-of-life advance directives does your jurisdiction allow? How did you find the documents allowed by your state or province?
  • After completing the document, assess your feelings about the process. What factors contributed to you selecting the specific document you completed?
  • What legal issues did you consider when you were completing the document?
  • What ethical factors and principles did you consider when completing the documents?

Your written assignments must follow APA guidelines. Be sure to support your work with specific citations

Explain the collaborative agreements and knowledge the rules for your state in regards to NP practice the case study you selected

Each state has laws that differ in regard to the role of the advanced practice nure.. They also may significantly impact the NP’s practice. Legislative changes may occur annually, bi-annually, or during an emergency legislative meeting at the state or federal level. These legislative sessions and any subsequent changes may significantly impact your scope of practice as a Nurse Practitioner. Remaining current with the laws in your state is essential. For example, the recent change at the federal level changing hydrocodone-containing drugs from a Schedule III drug to a Schedule II drug has impacted NPs in some states. For states that allow for Nurse Practitioners to write Schedule III-V drugs, these NPs are now unable to write for hydrocodone- containing medications, which significantly impacts their ability to provide care for their patients. The Pearson Report, which is updated almost annually, provides a national overview of each state’s current legislature. As a future NP, you should become familiar with The Pearson Report and stay abreast of state and federal legislation.

For this Discussion,:

1. you will post an explanation that defines the legal implications for standard of care.

2, The key components of a malpractice policy in regard to a case study.

3. Additionally you will explain the collaborative agreements and rules for your state (TEXAS) in regard to your NP practice and the case study you select.
