Dixie State University The Odyssey Oedipus Literature Analysis Questions

please help me anser these 2 questions asap. only need a short answer. question 1: Odysseus is described in book 22 of The Odyssey as being found

in the thick of slaughtered corpses,

splattered with bloody filth like a lion that’s devoured

some ox of the field and lopes home, covered with blood,

his chest streaked, both jaws glistening, dripping red—

a sight to strike terror.

What figure of speech is being used here? How does this figure of speech function to reflect the plot of the epic? How does it reflect on the character of Odysseus and the themes of the epic?

question2: Early in Oedipus Rex, the title character says:

Ah, my poor children, what you come to see

Is known already—not unknown to me.

You are all sick, I know it; and in your sickness

There is not one of you so sick as I.

To whom is Oedipus speaking? Choose at least one word in this passage that you feel is important to this scene. What does it mean? Does it have interesting (in this context) secondary meanings? How does this excerpt relate to the longer speech from which it is taken? How does it relate to the themes of the play and the plot as a whole?
