The murder of Yeardley Love took place in May 2010 in Charlottesville, Virginia. Love, a University of Virginia women’s lacrosse student-athlete, was found unresponsive in her Charlottesville apartment on May 3. Later that day, UVA men’s lacrosse player George Wesley Huguely V, originally of Chevy Chase, Maryland, was arrested by Charlottesville Police. Huguely was tried and found guilty of Love’s murder.

This incident resonated with me. I had to research this horrific tragedy when I was working on my undergraduate studies. The events that led the murder of this young lady is terrifying and very relevant today. This could happen right here on our beautiful campus.
