Business Finance Homework Help
UCLA Durian Company Project
This is a direct marketing storytelling assignment. Write a digital long form direct email for your fruit product. Use the
Copywriting for direct marketing letter packages reference sheet.
Step 1: Research Finalize your research, compile your data, ponder interesting facts, mine your swipe file, review miscellanea. Empathize deeply with your target.
Step 2: Target Audience Review your research and Creative Brief, and focus on a specific person from your Bio Profile. Who are you writing to? Listen deeply to your target — in particular their ‘Target Problem(s).’
Step 3: Benefit Identification Review your Brief, then select the top five features (product oriented elements) and their corresponding benefits (user oriented elements) (from Support) that most appeal to your target. List them on your rough draft, e.g.:
1. ________________________ ___________________________
2. ________________________ ___________________________
3. ________________________ ___________________________
4. ________________________ ___________________________
5. ________________________ ___________________________
Step 4: Copywriting Develop a concept for a long-form DM email.
- Write a single headline. Now write a subhead. Incorporate your tagline?
- Tell the reader an engaging story. Write 200-300 (minimum) words of DR copy, with a clear beginning, middle, end, and weave in your five features and benefits (from Step III).
- Offer / Call To Action / Expiration Date / Contact Info. What compelling incentive will you offer the target to convince them to act? Convey a sense of urgency/immediacy? How will recipients contact you? Tell and sell your story. Tell and sell your offer.
- Strong finish and close. Select and restate some compelling points from your opening USP, offer, Target Solution, etc. Close with a definitive, clear call to action — what do you want the reader to do?
- Edit. Rewrite. Proof. Was each word chosen thoughtfully? Tells a strong story?
- Follow the copy deck template to deliver your final copy.
- Make it perfect. (I can’t stress this pro-level behavior enough.)
