SCC Lipids Summary Sheet & Risk Factors for Cardiovascular Disease Discussion

Please read the instructions below closely and create a summary sheet about Lipids that includes the following elements:

  1. Food sources: a) one for mono-unsaturated, b) one for polyunsaturated, and c) one for saturated fats
  2. Your favorite recipe that includes a substantial amount of fat – the recipe should be mainly nutrient dense (i.e. “healthy”).  Remember fat is good.  You can include your own recipe or google something and cut and paste the recipe – I often get great ideas from all sorts of recipe sites
  3. An explanation how tropical oils are special (or different) from other vegetable oils
  4. The basic digestion and absorption of Fat using your own words – this is important: keep it simple and use your own words.   Do not be too brief.
  5. An explanation what essential fatty acids are – use your own words only

  1. Please read through the risk factors for Cardiovascular disease listed by the World Heart Federation (Links to an external site.). Based on the modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors listed. You have to scroll down and clock on the headings to see them!
  2. In your initial post address these two things:  explain why you feel you are at a higher or at a lower risk for Cardiovascular disease. Compose at least three sentences explaining your conclusion. and share what you are already doing to protect yourself (whether your risk is high or not).
