According to the State of Nevada Office of Minority Health and Equity (NOMHE), the State of Nevada has a program that relates with my practicum, which is health equity. The goal and mission of the State of Nevada Office of Minority Health and Equity are to “achieve an optimal level of health and wellness for racial and ethnic minorities in Nevada.” (NOMHE, 2019). The NOMHE provides an organized statewide focus in identifying, measuring, and examining issues related to the health status of minority people and connecting this data where needed and contributing. Besides, the program aims to develop minority needs duties, service strategies, and the collection of minority health data (NOMHE, 2019). When it comes to health equity, there are so many questions that come to my mind. Still, the primary question I would bring is why health inequity exists. To begin with, how are public health engaging themselves in internal and external entities to improve health equality, and how to improve the quality of health care facilities to all members of minority groups.
