Module 4 Discussion

Read Chapter 4 and 5.

Students are expected to read the assigned textbook chapter(s) and/or material(s) every week.

In the spirit of learning and growing as a class, all entries are expected to be thoughtful and robust. I am looking for something substantive – target 6+ sentences minimum per entry. The feedback should consist of respectful and constructive comments regarding the responses and should also contain two key learning points from that module reflecting on the chapters discussed that week.

Questions:

Many employers have mixed feelings with regards to allowing their employees to be on social media during work hours. This is especially true in start ups or younger companies where the employer is trying to establish a “relaxed/modern/flexible culture”.

Should employers allow the use of social media outlets during the work day?

How might granting these privileges impact productivity and company culture?

What are the pros and cons?

What impact might there be to HR practitioners?
