ENG 120 Grossmont College Shooting an Elephant Animal Compassion Thesis Paper

Your assignment is to create an organized outline showing the structure of your typewritten page argument essay persuading college students to act on behalf of an animal that needs help based on a theme regarding a specific aspect of animal rights or compassion. Your thesis must persuade college students to do something to help the negative situation of animals whether it is animals in a circus, or entertainment park, or puppy mills, or whatever aspect you want to write about it. You are not writing about why we should have compassion for animals. You are persuading students to show compassion by acting on their behalf in a very specific way, like volunteering at an animal shelter. This outline must be in MLA format and don’t use first or second person. Stay in third person. The outline is the skeletal framework of your entire paper. It must be well organized. Each section should flow smoothly into the next so it is fluid and reader-friendly. This is an argumentative research paper, so make sure your thesis is strong and clear. Write for an audience who is familiar with the topic, but not with the particular theme you are exploring. Make your outline detailed enough to fill 2 to 3 pages. One source I’m using is “Shooting an Elephant” by George Orwell which you can find online and 3 outside sources you can find from your own research like articles or books no blogs or Wikipedia. Try using Google Scholar rather than regular google. Also, use quote sandwich for the outside sources and Introduce the author first. Give him or her some credibility or ethos, then give the quote, cite it correctly with author’s last name and page or paragraph number. Then, the longest part of the paragraph should be your connecting that quote to what students should to do help and why.

Example: Thesis: (Example: College students should stop using products that do animal testing as it is cruel, outdated, and inhumane.)
