This week you studied work, education, and power in the United States. You watched the 2012 documentary “Park Avenue: Money, Power & the American Dream” as one of your assignments. As this documentary is nearly a decade old, it is important to ask how we as a nation are doing. Do we do a better job of government power sharing than in 2012? David Koch died in 2019, but have other billionaires picked up where he left off? For this assignment, I want you to turn to the newspapers. Find two recent (2019 – 2021) articles from major news organizations that show how social and political power have either become more or less concentrated among the rich.
