Procedure
Start your virtual machine

  1. Start VMware Workstation Player .
  2. Open the VM used for this course
  3. Nagivate through the top folder until there is only one file showing, a file with the extension .vmx. Click once on this file, then click open.
  4. On the right of the screen, right below the screen image, you find the commands for this virtual machine.
  5. Click on Play this virtual machine
  6. If you are asked if you copied the machine, select Yes for I copied the machine

    • blog page
      • must contain at least 6 entries
      • all entries must have the “read more” feature
      • must show at least 2 columns
      • one blog article must contain an image
    • contact us page
      • must include contact form
    • image gallery page
      • must be a separate page (aside from any slideshows in headers/banners)
    • shopping page including products and cart (snapshot products page, empty cart, and cart with items)
    • any additional extension that you consider suitable for your site
      • e.g. a map, weather, ratings and review systems, anything that fits your site
  • navigation on all pages
  • search feature on all pages
  • three users (created by you, different from the users provided by joomla) with limited access (three different access levels, snapshot user manager to document)
  • integration to at least one social network (facebook, twitter, etc.)
  • Copyright information in footer
    • must include your full name, copyright symbol, and year
  • all content must be representative of the topic proposed in assignment 1
  • Presentation: Create a video of your project demonstration and post it to the Discussion Board “Project Demonstration”
    • demonstration should less than 5 minutes
    • demonstration should be showing your final project from client side view (walk through/demo the main features of your project)
    • create a video (including audio) using PPT (use the screen recording feature in PPT)
    • any other screen recording program that will produce an mp4 file is also fine
    • post to Blackboard / Discussions / Project Demonstration Videos
    • you can post either the ppt or the mp4 file to the discussion board

What to turn in
Turn in one MS Word file including:

  • your name and the name/topic of your project
  • print screens of all 6 web pages
  • clearly label each screen print with the features included
  • print screen of user manager documenting 3 users with limited access (3 different access levels)
  • print screen of template manager showing your selected template as the default template
  • print screen of template layout (the graphical layout showing when clicking the eye in template manager)
  • in general, if you can’t fit all of your page on one page, consider taking 2 screenshots, or size the window to less than 100%

Make sure your full name is included on your main page as well as at the beginning of your MS Word document.
Turn in the word document with all required screen prints on Blackboard under Assignments / Project.
