What Is Your Value Proposition?
In this week’s Tio video, Austin talks about his belief in his product as a new type of savory snack meal that could appeal to busy Americans. Here he is discussing his value proposition for the customer segment he serves.
Read the definitions below for Market (Customer) Segments and Value Proposition, and think about how they apply to your new idea:
MARKET (CUSTOMER) SEGMENTS: Defines the different groups of people or organizations an enterprise aims to reach and serve.
VALUE PROPOSITION: Describes the bundle of products and services that create value for a specific Customer Segment.
Then, for your initial post, answer the questions below:
- For whom are you creating value?
- Who are your most important customers and where is the customer experiencing the product or service (in person, online)
- What value do you deliver to the customer? Which customer needs are you satisfying?
- Which one of your customer’s problems are you helping to solve?

RE: Week 3 Discussion
- For whom are you creating value? I am creating value for the lawn care companies, the employees and the lawn care customers.
- Who are your most important customers and where is the customer experiencing the product or service (in person, online) The most important customers are the lawn care owners who will benefit from a trained employee, the employees who will be more confident and gain experience and the customer who will benefit from trained lawn care providers and a better lawn experience. The services are done in person.
- What value do you deliver to the customer? Which customer needs are you satisfying? Training is the value and it satisfies a lack of trained lawn care professionals. Training provides value because it represents a good opportunity for employees to grow their knowledge base and improve their job skills to become more effective in the workplace. (1).
- Which one of your customer’s problems are you helping to solve?
All 3 of the customers are being helped.
Lawn Care Owners- Get trained, knowledgeable employees
Employees- Training will help improve the knowledge and skills of employees to match the various changes in the industry. These improvements will positively affect the productivity of workers, which can increase the profits and efficiency of an organization.(1)
Customers- Trained workers to provide proper lawn care services who know what they are applying, why, and how to do it. They will also be able to distinguish between weeds, insects, and various funguses and diseases. (2)

RE: Week 3 Discussion
For whom are you creating value? Weed Buster LLC is creating value for anyone who has weeds that need to be removed. These might be residential or commercial landscape companies who offer weeding services or individual business owners or homeowners that care for their greenspace or yards themselves.
Who are your most important customers and where is the customer experiencing the product or service (in person, online)? From a sales volume standpoint landscaping companies are very important. From a customer satisfaction standpoint residential customers will find that home use is going to save them time and money (not having to hire someone else to do it). The customer experience is an in person, hands on encounter. The sale of the product will be in person and online
What value do you deliver to the customer? Weed Buster is easy to use, simple to maintain and unlike any other weed removal device because it removes the weed from the dirt, helps kill the root, and picks up the weed remnant to conveniently dispose of, without chemicals (ScienceDirect, 1). No other weed tool does all of this (Kawasaki, 2).
Which Customer needs are you satisfying? For the commercial customer Weed Buster will allow crews to get the job done in less time and save on payroll expense. The residential customer will have pride knowing they have a tool that will keep their yard looking beautiful (Lecture Notes, 3)
Which one of your customer’s problems are you helping to solve? Before Weed Buster weeding was a tiresome chore because of all the bending and having to go root to root, not to mention the recurrence of the weed coming back only to have the repetition of doing it again. Weed Buster is a long-term solution to weed elimination.
