      • Analyze their interpretations of the video
      • Suggest helpful information

The first one:

Kim Jong Un and North Korea have long been the target of heavy economic sanctions from the rest of the world. Furthermore, their nuclear program has drawn heavy attention from the United States in the past couple decades. Firing these missiles in the Pacific Ocean and the threats that come with the program put the world on edge when Kim Jong Un threatened to fire upon the territory of Guam. I believe his intentions to show that the nation is not backing down its nuclear program and wants to appear as though they are ready for a war with the United States- or anyone else who hinders their advancement, for that matter. Kim Jong also has a personality to maintain. He is presented as God-like to his citizens and must make them believe that he is powerful enough to stand up to the United States. However, this is simply not true. Dictators like Kim Jong Un have a shared top priority- power. To attack the United States would be assured suicide and ultimately the collapse of his regime. I do not believe he would attack the United States. While the residents of Guam are rightfully concerned due to the sheer threats and hostility between the two nations, I believe they feel ready for war should it happen. Kim Jong Un felt prompted to flex his muscle and the citizens of Guam had to endure heightened anxiety as a result. The United States military is by far the most powerful in the world and is constantly updating its security measures based off threats that prompt them. I am certain that military leaders in places like Guam are constantly thinking about different war scenarios that could happen with the secluded nation and are devising plans to win thoroughly and swiftly. I hope this gives peace to some residents of Guam, however I completely understand their anxiety and worries surrounding the issue.

The second one:

I believe the reason why Kim Jong Nu is threatening to bomb Guam is because he considers this to be a threat to him. The US has several different military bases on Guam and is basically a better access to attack Guam from its location. He knows that its a huge possibility for the United States military would have a better “aim” to North Korea from their location. He knows the possibilities and consequences of the United States military and Navy attacking North Korea. The United States knows that Kim Jong is considered “power hungry” and wants to show his power by threatening to send missiles to Guam and again, gain control. He would also have a greater chance to destroying that country. He would send missiles to the tip of the country for a better shot. I can’t imagine the fear that the solider’s have on a regular basis while fighting for the rights of United States citizens. Fear and anxiety can cause problems in individuals and everyday that they focus on survival and on high alert they are causing additional health problems that could potentially have short term or long term affects. It takes a strong and courageous person to put themselves second and put their life on the line for others.
