Discuss your reason for beginning your DBA

I have encountered a host of commendable educators throughout my academic journey, and a few were not so praiseworthy. The few that were not impacted my desire to be the difference I want to see in educators. Because I was older, I could bounce back and get back in line, and I fear that some of the younger students won’t.

What is your motivation for pursuing this degree?

My motivation for pursuing this degree is to see my educational attainment to the highest degree. After receiving this DBA, I would like to be an online instructor to inspire and shape the minds of future generations.

Response 2: Sandi

Greetings All,
Welcome! These are exciting times. I look forward to meeting everyone and joining you in this journey. #Onward

The confluence of Technology, Finance, and Business Management are disciplines that continue to inform and inspire my career. Business fundamentals are table stakes in the myriad of decisions and calculus facing me as a leader daily. My knowledge and experiential learning inform my decisions regarding several aspects of my work including, recruitment and personnel matters across multiple geographies, management of the annual operational budget, or the mitigation of cybersecurity risks. A blended career including corporate and non-profit organizations, higher education, and entrepreneurship keeps me constantly intrigued as to the best business practices of the various structures. Moreover, it highlights the necessity for a successful application of business principles in multiple workplaces. An academic goal fuels my ambition to pursue the Doctor of Business Administration and conduct research on the evolution of businesses and non-profits post the pandemic.

After completing coursework in Technology Management, I was motivated and intrigued by the intersection of Business and Technology. Specifically, several businesses rely on emerging and innovative technologies to increase profits and improve customer satisfaction. Consider Amazon, Bank of America, and Chick-fil-A. Although they represent three distinct industries, they are all household names and have garnered brand loyalty from many consumers. They have unique recipes for their success. In addition to the quality of the items and services they provide, they offer consumers technological conveniences, loyalty perks, and unparalleled customer support, such as online shopping with free 2nd-day delivery, online banking, mobile check deposits, and online chat. But, the reality is that some businesses had to close or pivot during the recent COVID-19 pandemic, which impacted the supply chain and halted certain services. Ultimately the businesses that continued to maintain a thriving operation allowed for the evolution of their business model. Consider the new protocols adopted by hospitals, manufacturers, and food suppliers; each industry had to develop solutions to continue to provide services and supplies during the crisis with significant restrictions.

Throughout my doctoral journey, I hope to investigate the evolution of the businesses and non-profits post the pandemic while exploring the transformation of workforce cultures and the impact of technology on our new normal. Further, the looming emergence of the turnover tsunami and the great resignation will undoubtedly impact workforce management, perhaps creating more opportunities for employers to provide increasingly flexible solutions for staff. Lastly, upon completion, I trust the research will define the long-term impact such transformative modifications have on the workforce and the workplace while identifying sustainable solutions for various industries.

Thanks for reading; I look forward to your feedback.
