We will have a choice of presentation topics utilizing our reading chapters for this week.

Collaboration Topics:

  • Chapter 12 – Produce life cycle: Marketing strategies:  Technologies, product forms, and brands can exhibit life cycles with distinct stages.  Select your organization or select an organization to research and share the role that competition plays, and how marketers can best manage their brands given their market position and stage of the product live cycle.  Does the selected organization follow the principles described within this chapter? Explain.  An industry that I believe is a good example is the photography industry.
  • Chapter 16 – Pricing Strategy: Price is the one element of the marketing mix that produces revenue; the other elements produce costs.  New economic realities, such as Covid-19, have caused many consumers to consider what we are willing to pay for products and services.  Take a position: prices should reflect the value that we, as consumers, are willing to pay versus prices should primarily reflect the cost involved in making a product or service.  Find a service or product that supports your position and share the product’s value definition in the minds of consumers.  Does the service or product meet the consumer needs at the lowest possible price? Explain.
  • Chapter 17 – Marketing channels: What organization is winning the e-commerce market? Explain with statistics.  Who are the two major competitors for this organization and how are they or should they compete for the e-commerce marketing channel?
