Management Strong Teams and How to make them Function Effectively Questions

These Chapters focus on the aspects of strong teams and what “ingredients” go into making teams function at high levels. Read through each Chapter carefully before answering the questions below.

Chapter 13:

Exhibit 13.2 list some strategies to increase team member participation. Based on your “top 5,” which of these might you do well? Which would be challenging for you?

Read Case 13.2 on page 214 and answer the 3 questions at the end of the case.

Chapter 14:

Read Exercise 14.1 on page 231 and answer the 2 questions at the end of the exercise.

Chapter 15:

Can you share an occasion where there was lack of trust in your workplace or school environment? What were the effects of that lack of trust?

The chapter outlines several ways to understand the concept of “trust” in practice, beginning on page 239. Which of the practices mentioned do you think is most critical to your future work as a clinician or as an administrator?

Chapter 16:

The quote that begins this chapter is exceptionally true! Avoiding conflict or the lack of conflict is NOT an indication of a “healthy” team. On page 253, the author lists ways that conflict can be beneficial. Have any of you seen how conflict produced these benefits in your work or academic experience?

Exhibit 16.1 on page 255 lists 7 guidelines for managing conflict. Based on your “top 5,” which of these might you do well? Which would be challenging for you?
