1. Brough Brothers are making a name for themselves in the state of Kentucky by owning a small distillery with a tasting room of Bourbon which is producing approximately 15 gallons a week. Bourbon comes from the United States, and it is a grain combination of corn and matured in seared wood barrels (Wood, 2021). The distillery is 2,200 square feet which contains large plastic drums and a space heater. Brough Brothers is the first and only Black owned distillery in Kentucky and are registered with the Treasury Department’s Alcohol and tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (Wood, 2021). The Brough Brothers plan to provide economic opportunities to the area.

Since the pandemic, there has been an increase in the purchase of Bourbon which can be advantageous for the Bough Brothers. They have plans of producing more than 15 gallons of bourbon as well as expanding and exporting (Michel, 2020). A disadvantage that they can face is the lack of inventory and space. Since production keeps increasing, will they be able to keep up with the customer needs?

2. Supply chain management is a dynamic strategy for competitiveness and performance in organizations. Despite all the new developments in supply chain management, there are issues that continue to challenge the abilities to deliver quality products at the right cost, place and time. All the challenges have to do with factors such as weak technological culture, paradox, lack of technological expertise, technology use, and incompatible technological system. Moreover, difficulties such trust, dissimilar goals and priorities, and lack of communication also affect the development of collaborative culture in supply chain management (Singhry, 2015). Supply chain technology enables organizations to build, integrate, and reconfigure to enhance performance. This technology influences the transformation and distribution of materials and goods, helping the supply chain to reduce costs of transaction and communication, improving product quality and on-time delivery, facilitating real-time information sharing that consequently enhances firm performance (Singhry, 2015). Technology supports supply chain information sharing ultimately improving the overall performance of the entire supply chain. The main focus of information sharing systems has developed from reducing internal inefficiencies to supporting the integration and coordination of inter-organizational business processes since organizational performance is influenced by information processing needs and information processing capabilities (Zelbst, Green, Sower & Baker, 2010). Supply chain information sharing demands that organizations within supply chains mutually and openly share information with both suppliers and customers. Technology facilitates the information sharing infrastructure’s ability to capture real-time information across the entire supply chain allowing supply chain performance improvement. The uniform and real-time information provided by information sharing technology support the provision of quality information to supply chain partners in the right form, in the right place, and at the right time. Furthermore, technology enables for the capture of customer information directly into the supply chain database making it accessible by all members within the supply chain (Zelbst, Green, Sower & Baker, 2010). Enhanced information sharing enables the dissemination of information among supply chain partners to improve the satisfaction of the ultimate customers of the supply chain. Supply chain information sharing improves information visibility, development of a mutual plan, forecast and replenishment, sense of responsibilities, end-customer satisfaction (Singhry, 2015). In conclusion, technology generates and synchronously share information among manufacturers, suppliers, and customers on a real-time basis (Zelbst, Green, Sower & Baker, 2010).
