https://www.cio.com/article/3601829/4-trends-fueling-hybrid-work-strategies-in-2021.html

2.Read CIO and Change Agent, found in the material at the top of the course. Brief comments on two things: The CIO’s next key role: Change agent | CIO

A. What are several of the ideas found in the article that have enlightened you?

B. What is one takeaway that can help you with the Level Out case? (Read it )

3.Describe two things, briefly:

Major points you’ll make in your response to the Level Out Request for Proposal, and

What you need to know about transitioning an inhouse ERP system to a cloud-based ERP system.

4. Read the article CIO/Data Governance. What is data governance? A best practices framework for managing data assets | CIO

We do not have time to discuss governance in any detail. But governance is the set(s) of rules that manage business processes in any business.

Comment on two specific points (name them) in the article that have enlightened you.

5.Source: The Five Forces – Institute For Strategy And Competitiveness – Harvard Business School (hbs.edu)

This article is based on Michael Porter’s earlier work. The “five forces” model is as relevant today as it ever was. Consider how parts of it might contribute to your strategizing in the LevelOut case.

6.What are your feelings / learnings about collaborative tools in the workplace? We have Slack, Microsoft Office 365, and Google cloud tools. There are only a few of the many collaborative tools available.

Consider, we live in a social media world; we understand connectivity and being ‘in touch’ online. Consider also cost to a company. Consider how such tools can make communication easier between function areas and employee-management layers. Have you experienced upside and downsides of one or more of these tools? Let us know . . .

7.Do brief investigations on the following and contribute:

a WI-fi security (why should you not do business on public Wi-fi networks?)

b. Social engineering: What is social engineering? what are several approaches to managing colleagues’ technology uses, in the interests of business security? State of the Internet Security Reports | 2020 | Akamai

8.Worrying about security in a business seems like a thankless task. Or is it? What are your thoughts on the following:

* Many security breaches are caused by using default system settings. See the Target breach. As an IT manager, how can you effectively address this known problem? Remember, security passwords and settings are not “set and forget.” There has to be a process that deals with matters over time.* Do you use the same information for multiple entities and sites? Why is this not a good idea?

9.Do a bit of research on 5G. What is it? Is it “here” yet? Assuming that it’s use becomes widespread, what will its benefits be to business? Keep in mind that there are several different “flavors” of 5G. That is, there are different speeds and capacities. . . and availability in particular areas!

10.As a manager and decision maker, you’ll have to participate in approaching technology changes carefully. What are three considerations to make when determining whether to 1. purchase an in-house ERP system, or 2. purchasing access to a web-hosted ERP system? We should see the direct connection between the course project (Level Out) and these readings. 11.Research and share the business and business process capabilities of a particular social media management tool that is NOT Hootsuite or Sprout.

12.This CIO article presents a perspective uniting data and the successful managing and outcomes of projects. Read and comment on a particular part of the article that speaks to you.

There are three overriding themes here, but you can certainly provide additional perspectives: project management, data, and analytics. https://www.cio.com/article/3612317/the-data-driven-project-manager-using-analytics-to-improve-outcomes.html

14.You don’t need to share a great deal of personal information here if you don’t want to. There are two questions here. You can respond to either or both. Where do your senses of ethics and morality come from?

What is the impact of our current state of cultural, political and online behaviors on your own beliefs and behaviors? Discuss two matters within that document that are of interest to you: agree, disagree, I didn’t know this before, I’ve seen this in our company . . .
