GCU Covid 19 Transition from Virtual to In Person Essay

Based on your proposal from Topic 3 and any feedback you may have received, write a 1,000-1,250-word paper that connects specific cultural communication patterns or practices to the history, values, and beliefs of that culture. You should focus on a culture of which you are not a member (e.g., you would not research GCU cultural communication patterns because you are a member of the GCU community). Your paper should integrate five reputable and authoritative sources.

The following journal article titles illustrate the variety of patterns or practices that your paper could address:

  • The Gift and the Common Good: A Chinese and Business Ethics Perspective
  • Acculturative Family Distancing and Depressive Symptoms Among Latinas: The Role of Intergenerational Cultural Conflict.
  • Engaging Malaysia: A Grassroots Approach to Inter/Intra-Religious Communication
  • Impact of Romantic Facebook “Crush Pages” on the Egyptian Youth
  • The Impact of Covid-19 to Indonesian Education and Its Relation to the Philosophy of “Merdeka Belajar”

This is not an all-inclusive list and you are free to pick any pattern or practice in collaboration with your instructor. Notice that each of these articles addresses a communication issue and links it to cultural distinctiveness. The focus of your paper is to present research on the history, beliefs, and values of a cultural group and give examples of communication patterns or practices that are influenced by these histories, beliefs, and/or values.

Below is the Rubric and my first rough draft of when I picked my topic. i already chose 3 references.

Covid-19 and the Transition from in person to Virtual

The topic I would like to discuss is based around the Covid-19 Pandemic and how it affected the educational system. I have an 18-year-old son who will be attending College in the fall. His Senior year was filled of a lot of challenges. These obstacles didn’t only affect the students. It affected teachers, administration and parents. Communication plays a major role in the way a child can learn effectively. Everyone basically had to adjust to a new way to help these students learn. Our homes were now classrooms. The new concept of virtual learning would now become a task. Every student would need to have access to a laptop or a computer. The government did a great job of making sure each child had the proper resources to learn. They had to consider that every household may or may not be able to afford computers. Each school became a head quarter to make sure this was not an issue.

Secondly it was hard enough prior to Covid to get your child up for school. Parents had to now find new ways to motivate their children to want to attend school. Then there is the obstacle that every child may not function well virtually. Some children need face to face instruction.

Lastly virtual learning meant that these children and adults would have no social interaction. This left the door open for depression, and countless other emotional issues.

The three sources I chose n the reference section discuss the different obstacles that took place during this difficult time. They did research on how virtual learning became easier and showed different techniques and plans to help make it a success. I will most likely need more sources to touch on how it affected our interactions socially. I look forward to hearing your feedback.
