Part 1

Use these instructions to prepare the final draft of the project

  1. Personalize and complete the Project Cover Page template. Save it and have it prepared to email to your course instructor as well as uploading it on Canvas.
  2. Personalize (with the correct information for your project and course number), print out, and complete the Signature Page. You will need two signatures on it (project advisor/course instructor and a committee member).
  3. Please ensure that you have a table of contents that provides page numbers for chapter divisions, and large subsection headings if appropriate. Appendices (if applicable) and Bibliography should be included in the Table of Contents.
    1. Please ensure that you have an acknowledgments page that expresses gratitude to the faculty, peers, and family who have been instrumental in your education and project-writing.
    2. Please ensure that the body of your project is double-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman font.
    3. Please ensure that your project is paginated!
    4. Please ensure that there is a Bibliography at the back of your Thesis as well.
    5. Please ensure that the Body of your project is contained in one document in a format compatible with Microsoft Word (.docx format) or a PDF file.

Part 2

Prepare your presentation (PPT) that must include the following sections

  1. Title of paper (1 slide) a. Include IRB approval number on this slide along with names of collaborators (if applicable)
  2. Motivation and Problem Statement (1 slide) (Why should anyone care?)
  3. Background and significance of the project [Chapter ONE – Introduction] (1 slide)
  4. Research/policy/evaluation question (1 slide)
  5. Methods & Study Design [Chapter TWO – Research Methodology] (2 slides)
    1. Study design (1 slide). Give an overview of study procedures and/or data collection techniques.
    2. Discuss measures, variables, and instruments.
    3. Types of analysis conducted
  6. Results or Outcomes (3 slides)
    1. Present key results and key insights, this is the main body of the talk.
    2. Do not try to cover all results superficially; cover only key results well. Highlight interesting, counterintuitive findings
    3. Do not just present numbers; interpret them to give insight.
    4. Do not present dense, large tables of numbers. Use graphics, pictures, and figures to help the audience visualize results.
  7. Summary /Discussion (2 slides)
    1. Summarize major findings
    2. Discuss the implications of findings
    3. List study limitations and how they were mitigated
    4. Present the next steps for research on this topic and policy or programmatic recommendations.
