Can fake shortages be used as a marketing tool?

Synthesis :

The analysis of SONY’s global environment helps to understand the cause of the PS5 shortage. The main reason is the chip shortage caused by the health crisis. There are also political (Donald Trump’s initiatives to deter U.S.-China trade deal) and environmental (drought in Taiwan) reasons. So, this proves the importance of analyzing all these factors that are difficult to control by SONY but have a real impact on their business.
