Both Darrin and Quinn are using descriptive questions because they both are describing the current state of something using surveys to collect the data. The basic study of both their questions involved overall job satisfaction which is the current state of their study. Qualitative approaches provide more detailed descriptions to gain a better understanding of things. So, out of the two, Darrin is using the qualitative questions. This is because his survey wants the respondents to describe their overall job satisfaction using 300 words. He wants them to be clearer and more descriptive compared to Quinn, which only wants his respondents to rate using a scale of 1-10. Using qualitative questions allows the respondents to think quality and use a detailed perspective. This gives the Darrin more of an advantage because his respondents are explaining more that could help with his research.

Some advantages of using those different type of questions is that it is used to gain a better understanding of underling reasons, opinions, motivations, and behaviors. Another advantage is that they can be beneficial. A disadvantage of using those type of questions is that it uses small sample sizes and data collection is generally time consuming. The responses to the two questions are analyzed by human analysis and coding and using judgement. So basically, by gathering the information from a variety of sources and comparing it. They are analyzed through the different interviews or questionnaires that are given and can vary.

The title of my research paper is Social Media and How It Disrupts College Students Academic Measures. The purpose of the proposed research is to analyze the impact social media has on college students’ productivity. Hypothesis: College Students over the age of 18 consume more time on social media demonstrates poor academic performance. The primary variables of my research study will be college students over the age of 18.

“There are billions of people all around the world that use social media. Some of them visit such platforms as Facebook or Instagram for several minutes. The others may “hang” there for a couple of hours”(James, James, fire, & fire, 2021) James, C., James, C., Fire, P., & Fire, P. (2021, April 26). Social media can be a big distraction for college students. It takes discipline for students to stay focused on their academics and manage their time on social media. A student can connect with friends and family, learn how to cook and buy stock via social media. Even if what the student is viewing is helpful, it still can be time-consuming and distract a student from academic measures. Social media is entertaining, and it is an outlet to advertise and spread the word quickly with the click of the mouse. In my research study I will measure consumption of social media:

Engagement on social media

Influence of followers and celebrities

Hours or time spent on social media outlets

Time management

Attendance in class
