We all have unique experiences and perceptions that shape what we believe about the world. Our beliefs and underlying assumptions influence our natural approach to research. Philosophical worldviews vary in terms of their congruence with qualitative and quantitative research.
After reviewing chapters 1-2 in your textbook Research Methods for Business and considering the four philosophical worldviews (i.e. positivism, post-positivism, constructionism, pragmatic) explained on p. 22-24, answer the following questions:
- Which philosophical worldview most closely aligns with your perspective and the way that you view problems in the world? Provide a detailed rationale for your position.
- How does understanding the connection between philosophical worldview and research methodology assist you with your research approach?
