There are no two businesses that have the exact same budgets, and I would have to venture to say that even with generalized approaches, no two have the exact same budget process. Also, while most of us use self-created spreadsheet budgets for you and your family, I am very hesitant to ask about personal budgets for obvious reasons!  So, I thought we could direct our attention to a budget that we all have in common – the federal government’s budget!  We have a stand-alone course called ACCT 6070 Governmental and Not-for-Profit Accounting (which I teach by the way!) but believe it or not in that class we barely touch the budget process (there is so much other stuff to cover)!  Also, you’ll see that the government’s budget process is surprisingly similar to how large corporations operate.
