Moneyball is the story behind the success of the Oakland A’s baseball franchise. It has more to do with business than baseball. The story revolves around the player (or employee) development system that Billy Beane put in place in Oakland. Despite his limited payroll he frequently fielded highly competitive teams. Simply stated, he changed the paradigm used to determine the characteristics that lead to success. Can you describe other businesses that have changed their fundamental approach to their industry? What did they do that was different? What is it about the changes that caused people to buy in?
