The Competition

As our textbook points out in chapter 18, a competitor analysis is part of marketing strategy. Examine Figure 18.1 in Principles of Marketing. Then, complete the following:

  • Identify the competitors of the company that you are using in your Portfolio Project
  • Assess these competitors’ strengths and weaknesses
  • For your new product, discuss your strategy for attacking or avoiding these competitors

Market Strategies

Refer back to chapter 18 in Principles of Marketing, and complete the following:

  • Describe the four types of market strategies.
  • Describe which market strategy your company is pursuing.
    • Provide analysis and evidence to justify your position.

Budget

  • Refer back to the budget section of Appendix 1 and create a table outlining your marketing budget for your new product, include all costs associated with launch and promotion.

Controls

  • Outline 2-3 controls you plan to implement to monitor progress and implementation results. Tie these back to your objectives and strategies.

Ethical Considerations

  • Explain how the proposed plan aligns with the company’s statement of ethics and corporate social responsibility.

Conclusion

  • Summarize key highlights of your plan to date.

Part 2 of your paper should be 5-7 pages in length excluding cover and reference pages and conform to APA guidelines in the CSU Global Writing Center (Links to an external site.). Include at least two scholarly references in addition to the course textbook. The CSU Global Library is a good place to find these references.

You are to combine parts 1 and 2 and submit your compiled and complete paper this week to your instructor. Total submission should be 10-14 pages
