With a measure of beliefs and viewpoints the Walmart management can have a fair understanding on what the customer expectation is. Is it the inexpensive rates that the customer prefers, of the coverage of merchandise or whether it is the store layout that needs to be augmented to enabling a better shopping experience for the consumer?

The ACSI is very likely to use one of the Itemized Rating Scale. The very apt one to be used is Likert Scale. Based on the feedback from respondent on the agreement and disagreement against each of the series of statements, a total score is computed based on the numerical score assigned to each statement. As Likert Scale are of ordinal type, they enable one to rank the mindset, and are more reliable considering the ability to capture large range of response to determine a conclusion.
Considering the mindset of consumers takes precedence in this scenario, we need a viewpoint measurement method that provides valid and accurate measure of social opinion. Therefore, as a consultant I am very likely going to use the Likert Scale. The derived total score would assist management to assess shortcomings of Walmart stores in the opinion of consumers address the issues highlighted by customer feedback by aligning solutions that meet the management expectation of substantial profit margin and provide quality deals to customer.
