The movie that I am choosing is Coach Carter.

Coach Ken Carter, the main character of the film, is a newly hired basketball coach who implements a contract that his players must follow. He demonstrates the true meaning of what it means to be a leader and tries to impact his players future everyday. When implementing his leadership style, coach Carter is met with a lot of negative reaction from his boss and members of the community, all because he wants his players to get good grades in order to play on the team. The movie is much more than just a basketball movie and is the perfect example of how to respect, compassion, and self confidence are key elements of how to have a successful team. Even though his leadership style was met with a lot of negative reaction, Coach Carter never gave up on his kids and showed them that they can not depend on the game of basketball for the rest of their lives.

My movie of choice is The Devil Wears Prada.

The Devil Wears Prada demonstrates the leadership quality from the character of Miranda Priestly. Despite her losing brand and career, she in the end manages to gain it back. Her character is not of much idealistic leadership quality, but she gets what she wants. In doing so she demonstrates good leadership. The ability to influence a group toward the achievement of goals. In the film, Miranda Priestly calmly explains the things that Andy finds funny while selecting the outfits for a show. Miranda is well informed and has a lot of ideas about what she does. That is why Miranda shows intrinsic motivation. Miranda shows a task-oriented leader who has a transactional leadership style. She has focused on completing the task and expects the same thing from the assistant to the team members. Further, she always puts her professional life before her personal life. She is strict enough to fire her staff if they make any mistakes. Her leadership personality is strict enough to show that she expects higher and nothing less from her staff. However, she rewards her staff for completing the task and performing well. For instance, she takes Andy to Paris and gives rewards in terms of clothing and parties.

Lord of the Rings

I chose the Lord of the Rings because the plot of the movie represents a similar path a person of leadership most likely had experienced before becoming whom they were known for or before leaving the impact on society that they did. It’s an action-packed movie with lots of character emotions that emulate similar sacrifices, feelings, and behaviors that people could feel when on the path towards completing a complex task or objective. The leader in this film is Aragorn Elessar and he represents many leadership qualities like, but not limited to, courage, confidence, resilience, ambition, empathy, initiative, and many more. Conclusively, the Lord of the Rings, Aragorn, and every detail about this trilogy illustrates leadership and is widely accredited for that purpose.
