Disciplinary action and grievances are a part of every work environment. Managers must have some way of correcting behavior that is not consistent with the culture of the organization. In union environments, managers must be aware of the grievance process. When employees are threatened, they have a right to due process. What are Weingarten Rules? Can employees be dismissed for “just cause” in a union environment? When is arbitration and mediation necessary? How can management avoid arbitration and/or mediation?
