Need help with my Tourism question – I’m studying for my class.

Discuss the following questions:

Are issuing controls necessary? Is it wise to allow any bartender or server easy access to beverage storage?

Who should issue beverages?

Should responsibility be given to just one individual? Does it matter?

How often should beverages be issued to a front bar? To a service bar? Is it necessary or desirable that all beverage products issued to a bar be issued at one time?

Issuing controls are 100% necessary. I also don’t think any bartender or server should have easy access to beverage storage unless they are highly trusted by the management. This is why training is very important, like what was said in the Preventing Bar and Retail Theft video in chapter 15, “Hire the best people, train them properly, make sure they have everything they need to be successful, so they don’t feel like they have to steal that success from you. Its always easier to eliminate the motif for stealing, rather than try and eliminate the opportunity.” I think only highly trusted managers should have the responsibility to issue beverages. And i think beverages should only be issued when needed
