BU Issues of Homeboy Industries & Social Enterprise Discussion

I’m working on a entrepreneurship discussion question and need support to help me understand better.

Today’s question:

There is a saying: “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” Often, people try to do the right thing, or try to be helpful. But things don’t go as they plan, despite their intentions, and sometimes, they end up damaging things or making them worse. Why should social entrepreneurs be particularly wary of this problem? How could social entrepreneurs avoid seeing their best intentions go astray?

Today’s question:

What do you think about Homeboy Industries? Why do you think this social enterprise is effective?

One of the barriers to full participation in society is that when people return to society from prison, they often have a hard time getting employed–leading people to return to a life of crime. What do you think could remove that barrier? Why does that barrier exist to begin with? What are people’s beliefs and assumptions around the kinds of issues Homeboy industries tries to address?
