In the beginning, Tesla Cars were only manufactured in their factory in Fremont, California (Ponders, 2020). But due to the worldwide demand, Tesla quickly figured that they needed to go international. U.S. auto manufacturers have long practice low-cost, localize transnational strategies. Companies like Ford have built and marketed cars unique to international markets like the Mondeo in Europe and the Figo in India (Rossi, 2021).

Tesla has followed suit of car markers before them, but no regional models due to the demand for their products. However, Tesla has established factories internationally to reduce costs in those markets. Currently, Tesla does not need to develop products for individual foreign markets. In the U.S., Tesla has developed the CyberTruck; this truck will help the carmaker enter the second-largest vehicle market share in the U.S. at 21% and valued at $13 billion (Hirsch, 2021). This market differentiation is a risk for Tesla, as truck buyers are not seen as an environmentally conscious demographic. But entering this market can open a new market for Tesla, opening up a demographic that was unlikely to buy an EV.
