Criminal Investiagion

Serial and mass murders present significant challenges to law enforcement agents. These crimes are extremely difficult to solve because the murderers typically leave little evidence at the crime scenes, rarely have any prior connection to their victims, and do not have an obvious motive to kill. In addition, serial and mass murderers often stake out their victims for weeks to ensure there will be no witnesses. As a result, serial and mass murderers tend to evade detection longer than most other killers. Therefore, law enforcement agents encounter many challenges when trying to identify and apprehend serial and mass murderers. Criminal profilers, however, can help law enforcement agents address some of these challenges by providing physical, psychological, and even background profiles of serial murderers.

  • Read Serial Murder: Pathways for Investigation.

http://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/2014/october/seria…

  • Review FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin “Criminal Investigative Failures: Avoiding the Pitfalls (Part Two)”

http://www.au.af.mil/au/awc/awcgate/fbi/investigat…

  • Read Kocsis, R. N. & Palermo, G. B. (2007). Contemporary problems in criminal profiling. In Criminal Profiling: International Theory, Research, and Practice (pp. 327-345). Totowa, NJ: Humana Press Inc. Retrieved from http://eknygos.lsmuni.lt/springer/605/327-345.pdf

Criminal Profiling: International Theory, Research, and Practice (pp. 327-345)

  • Review Chapter 14 of your course text, Profiling Violent Crimes: An Investigative Tool. Focus on the challenges that law enforcement faced when investigating the Borden murders. Reflect on how criminal profilers might have addressed some of these challenges to help solve the case.
  • Review the book excerpt, “So Many Victims.” Focus on why it is more difficult to solve serial murders compared to other types of murders. Consider how criminal profilers provide resources, such as psychological descriptions of serial and mass murderers, that aid law enforcement in investigations.
  • Consider the challenges unique to the investigation of serial and mass murders compared to other homicides.
  • Reflect on how criminal profiling might address the challenges you identified.

the Task , pleaes use in text citaiotn s

  • Describe at least two challenges unique to the criminal investigation of serial and mass murders compared to other homicides. Be specific.

LAW 101 SEU Making Ethical Decisions on Behalf of My Employer Responses

Discussion Question

When making ethical decisions on behalf of your employer, should you consider the impact on others outside your employer? If so, who and why?

Post 1

Yes, it is important to consider the impact of the decision on others outside your employer when you are making ethical decisions on behalf of the employer.Ehics are moral principles that guide a person’s behavior. These morals are shaped by social norms, cultural practices, and religious influences. Ethical decision making is the process of assessing the moral implications of a course of action. All decisions have an ethical or moral dimension for a simple reason—they have an effect on others. Managers and leaders need to be aware of their own ethical and moral beliefs so they can draw on them when they face difficult decisions. Most ethical decisions exist in a gray area where there is no clear-cut or obvious decision that can be determined solely through quantitative analysis or consideration of objective data or information. Ethical decision making requires judgment and interpretation, the application of a set of values to a set of perceptions and estimates of the consequences of an action. Sometimes ethical decisions involve choosing not between good and bad, but between good and better or between bad and worse.

Minnesota State University Mankato State and Federalism Relations Discussion

This week’s discussion come directly from our textbook. It is important to remember that you are reading law and as such it is written in a particular way that is very formal. The authors do provide a summary and the questions I ask are not very specific. So focus on the general theme and keep in mind that I want you to demonstrate a general understanding, but this is all open book, because today you can easily use a smart phone to look anything up. No fact is impossible to find. What matters is “Do you understand what it means?”

I will be phasing in questions. They will start on from the general and go to the specific, thus allowing you to demonstrate some of the impressive analytical skills week 2. Please do not be shy with your responses. There is really no “wrong” response. If something is not exactly precise it is an opportunity to elaborate. Finally do look for guides, additional readings and so on in the Materials/Contents section. I will also try to email you everything.

This week is very open-ended. We are making an effort to understand the evolving and fluid nature of the relationship between the national government and the state governments. The authors of our text have divided up the topic into sections:

  1. What is the principle of federalism (think of the distinction between Dual and cooperative federalism?
  2. What is the significance each of the Tenth and Eleventh Amendments?

Because of the complexity of this topic, please take the time to understand each section and then respond to the following question:

1. In a world where local, state and national borders are meaningless from the vantage point of some issues, such as pandemics, climate, and other phenomena such as the transfer of ideas, images, and tastes, how do you understand the relative power of the national government in relation to the state and local government as illustrated by the Supreme Court in the United States?

Prince Georges Community College Week 6 Pirating Media Content Discussion

I’m working on a criminal justice discussion question and need support to help me study.

Users who engage in digital piracy often justify their behavior by remarking that the content stolen only accounts for a small loss, that users are entitled to media content at low/no cost, and that the government is simply prosecuting pirates to make an example out of them. In fact, digital pirates do not consider theft of digital content as shoplifting and do not believe that their theft is similar to theft of real CDs, movies, or software from shops. Given that the subculture of pirates believe that piracy is not theft, this further perpetuates their behavior. What are your thoughts on this perspective? Show your ability to look at both sides of the argument. Expand on how this behavior should be dealt with legally (from law enforcement and legislation).
