Help me please!! Something happened and now I don’t have time to do all of these questions. 125 sounds like a lot but the questions are related to each other and are meant to only take 1 minute each. All of the questions are in the form of screenshots in a Word document. There are 20 screenshots and the document is called “derivatives as functions and definitions of derivatives”.

A quick glance at the table you filled out in Question 3 at the beginning of this lesson should be enough to convince you that spreadsheets are particularly well-suited to interest calculations. First, recreate that table using a spreadsheet. Of course, the point is to use formulas to do the calculations, not just key in the results. Then use the “copy down” feature to calculate the future value of the account and the total interest earned for years 11 through 30. A template to help you get started is included in the online resources for this lesson.

Next, suppose that your goal was for the future value of the investment to be $1,000 after 10 years. Use trial and error, changing the amounts in cells A2 and B2, to find (1) how much more you’d need to invest upfront, and (2) what interest rate you’d need to earn to achieve that goal if you keep the original investment at $600.

Ken Ono generalized an idea of the famous south Indian mathematician Ramanujan. Read about the story of Ramanujan (in fact, there is a movie called the Genius of Srinivasa Ramanujan with Ken Ono in it), and tell us the congruences Ramanujan noticed for the partition function; e.g., 5 always divides p(5k + 4) = # of partitions of 5k + 4.

Did Ramanujan actually prove these congruences?

Tell us about the other congruences, and those recently found by Ono, et al. There are some articles on this which describe (in plain terms) what the idea was for deriving these new generalizations (e.g., in Scientific American).

Tell us what a q-series is and some examples of 1 how they encode combinatorial information [this is one place where you could use Mathematica!]
